
Split the input audio into as many frequency bands as you like with your eq or filter of choice, (I like EQUO for this purpose because of its easy per-band on/off switches) do whatever you want with each band, and then combine them all together. You can do the same thing with infinitely more control by using patcher. I'd feel bad not at least pointing to cheap goods. Money can get tight and the deals are always changing, so this may not be for you.

The Channel Strips (DDChannel, DDChannel2) are well regarded. Dead Duck Free Effects Bundle - similar to Melda in many ways, but no nagging to upgrade.
